Madrid Iberia Domestic Goya Business lounge review
The new terminals at Madrid are a vast cathedral to the gods of aviation - unless you go to the Iberia Goya Lounge. This is one of the poorer lounge options at Madrid, and it is perhaps thankful that it is used for domestic only.
It's hard to find if you are on a connecting flight - the one sign to it is over your head, behind you, when you get the underground train to this part of the terminal. Then again that's not much loss.
The lounge strikes me as having been an afterthought, laid out along a corridor, and on a flight of stairs.
As you go in through the swish sliding doors you can go left to the dining and bar area.
Up around the bar there is a seating area with hard glass chairs. Next to this are some comfortable squashy armchairs.
Down the stairs to the left as you go in there is a thoroughly miserable smoking room with a TV. It's rather like a school common room. There is also a small darkened sleeping area. At the far end are loos and 4 shower suites. By the door are two fast modern internet computers - although here, you do get the lounge staff staring at you from their desks.
Food
Food is poor. During the day there are just packets of crisps, packets of raisins, and peanuts.
Bar
The bar is actually pretty good. There are bottles of wine in miniature bottles - in the fridge, along with miniature bottles of Cava (Jaume Serra). There are three beers: the real ale like Yuste in bottles, plus cans of Red and Blue Laiker Sin Mahou.

Business Facilities
There are two computers which are very fast. There are lots of big screens advising of flight departures, and flights are also called in the lounge.
There are Spanish Newspapers and Magazines, free wifi (free 30 minute wifi cards given out at the desk), Fax and Phone.
Access
There are three different lounges at Iberia's new terminal at its Madrid hub - and you can always select the correct one, because you are forced into it by a complex mesh of glass screens and network of floors. In effect, you don't have any options, and you can't lounge-hop.
The Goya lounge handles flights from the main terminal (most Schengen flights and Ibiza/Canary Islands). In the Satellite - a ten minute train ride away - there is the Goya lounge in the central area on Level 1 at T4S, for long haul (open 0600-0130) which also has a pre-flight dinner service, and the Goya lounge on Level 0 for domestic (open 0600-0000).
