The small Gold Coast Airport, also known as Coolangatta Airport, is a small well functioning, if sometimes remarkably busy airport, It is the sixth-busiest airport in Australia, and the busiest outside a state capital.

Mainly a bucket and spade type of airport, almost everyone flying in our out seems to be on holiday.

It is only 25 km (16 miles) south of the centre of Surfers Paradise and approximately 100 km (62 miles) south of Brisbane. A real curiosity of the airport is that the runway straddles the state border of Queensland and New South Wales, and during summer these states are in two different time zones.
