Air Vienna Lounge
As one of the two pay in lounges at Vienna Airport, the non-schengen lounge is also called the Vienna Lounge, having changed name from the Air Lounge, to avoid confusion.
Much smaller than the Jet lounge before passport control, it is almost a pitstop lounge, while you are waiting for the queue at the gate to go down.
Never the less there is a small bar, some snacks, and a great view over the airfield.
Vienna Air lounge review
The Air lounge at Vienna is for non-Schengen destinations like the USA and the UK, and as such is right after passport control - and I do mean right after: as soon as you've had your passport glanced at, turn a sharp right. The Air Lounge is ideal for passengers departing from Gates D, and useless for anyone else.
Quite tiny, it has 60 seats over 250 square metres, so you're better off in the Jet lounge until departure. However, the Air lounge has a Panoramic view over the airfield.
The layout of the Air lounge is a bit odd. It's in effect a long hallway with mesh curtains to create the impression of small booths; this doesn't really work, as it just makes the lounge seem smaller.
As you walk in, the buffet is ahead of you, as is the small drinks counter, and a long high bench for eating. Uncomfortable though it is.
There are a rack of seats looking out through the windows at the really impressive view of the runways and airport apron. Further around are more sofas. However, when the lounge was rebuilt, it was rebuilt in a strange way, with odd bits of white and orange furniture, and other tables left over in a sale. It's all rather strange.
Further around, the smoking booth is worthy of note, and the tiny bathrooms up the corridor.
The lounge can sometimes be totally empty, but then, such as before the Emirates flight coincides with a BA flight, it can get packed, and then some. Seats near windows are aspirational at these times.
Food
Food in the Air Lounge Vienna Airport is rather a mixed bag with a buffet by Do & Co.There is soup, pasta, a hot dish or two, canapés cold cuts and cheese. It is better than most pay in lounges, but not quite as good as the Jet lounge.
