Plaza Premium Lounge Brisbane

The Brisbane Plaza Premium Lounge was the first Lounge in Australia for the global Plaza brand, and they made it a good one. There are rustic interiors which aim to promote a warm and inviting ambience complete with Victorian Ash feature walls, marble flooring and plush wool carpets imported from New Zealand.

The brand new Plaza Premium Lounge if one of the best Plaza's on the network, with a bar, good food, and comfortable chairs. It is airside, up the escalator in the main part of the terminal, and opposite the Singapore Airlines lounge.

Brisbane Plaza lounge review

Brisbane's Plaza Premium Lounge is available for all international passengers, and as such is right after passport checks, security and the duty-free maze, for international departures only, then right and right again up the escalator to the upstairs lounge precinct, shared with Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines lounges.

The entrance looks impressive, despite the litter of left outside luggage trolleys. and has a large desk.

However, once inside, the lounge itself it just a little bit... small. With furniture crammed into every available space. The Brisbane Plaza Premium Lounge has a strong rural theme, with trees in pots in the middle of the lounge, large wickerwork room dividers, made up of vertical slats, and indeed seats cheek by jowl with each other. There are warm wooden tones, cooler greens hints, dark stone tiles, and a contemporary carpet pattern which gives the lounge a modern vibe.

The place almost feels like a maze, as you wiggle through the various sub-sections of the lounge. As you enter, there are the hexagon work pods, then down one side, overlooking the windows, are back to back armchairs overlooking the windows, with comfortable brown leather chairs offset by sea blue chairs for some variety.

If you turn left, to the bar, there is a long high marble bench for dining, along with a few dining tables at the far end of the food servery. It could seem crammed, but high ceilings help give the lounge an airy feel, as do the floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooking the terminal concourse and you can just about see the runway too.

However, when most of the flights leave either early morning or late evening, you'll be glad of the comfortable seating, with options for both work and relaxation.

There is a small dining area too, although the chairs appear rammed in, and a large marble bar top for eating. Don't miss the trio of swinging chairs.

Food

The food is remarkably good considering the small size of the lounge, with buffet style dining is available with sweet and savoury choices.

There are always a lot of hot options, which are in the large silver containers at the end of the bar, with three or four beef, rice and pasta or noodle dishes prepared by in-house chefs. Menus are on the table, with options of chicken or pikelets and fried rice with mixed vegetables for lunch and dinner.

At breakfast time sausages and scrambled eggs are available, or noodles if you are going for an Asian version.

The number of desserts is always remarkable.

Don't miss the salad bar, which is really good, in the chilled cabinet, and the sandwiches and rolls on the worktop.

Bar

There is a full bar at the Plaza Premium Lounge Brisbane. Beer, cider, wine and spirits are complimentary, and now that the numbers using the lounge have been reduced by the removal of Priority Pass, there is no card system for drinks any longer.

Pretty good selection of top regional wines from Australia.

There is barista coffee in the morning.

Business Facilities

There are unique honeycomb workstations complete with electrical outlets for charging devices. The work pods come with a work bench, light and dual power outlet with two mains power and also two USB power ports. There are also two windows PCs.

There is complimentary WiFi in the lounge. It is very fast.

Bathrooms

There are shower facilities, and an adjoining spa. However Brisbane's Plaza Premium Lounge has only one shower room, and the queues to use it can be long.

For an extra fee, guests are able to choose from a menu of treatments, including seated massages at the Plaza Premium spa. This is in a separate space in the atrium from the Plaza Premium Lounge.
