Delta Sky Club JFK Terminal 4 New York Lounge

The Delta Airlines Sky Club New York JFK Lounge is one of the main flagship lounges on the Delta network.

It's large - at 25,000 square feet - and has a great bar, in a large central room, with a dining area at one side.

However, the best part of the lounge is the large open air deck area, where you can enjoy drinks at sunset, while watching departing aircraft and enjoy the heady aroma of Jet A1. NEWS: A wave of new lounges for Delta Air Lines

New York JFK Delta Airlines Sky Club lounge T4 review

The lounge is one level up from the main concourse, so I took the escalator up.

This SkyClub is about 25,000 square feet and is considered to be one of Delta's "flagship" SkyClubs, with lots of space and uprated food.

Alas, first you have to get to it, and it is quite a trek from post-security to the entrance of the SkyClub which is near gate B31, and then you take the escalator upwards to the main reception desk.

At busy times, there are ticket checkers on the lower level to save queues upstairs.

The main Delta SkyClub at Kennedy Airport is impressive, both in terms of it's size and facilities.

To the left of the entrance is a long room with rows of leather seats facing one another, and some communal high-top seating.

Meanwhile, if you turn right at the top of the escalator you will immediately find yourself at the bar, in the main central room with the dining area opposite.

However, it is immediately apparent that the design is just a little bit bland. There isn't all that much to get excited about, with fairly dull seating, apart from a few signature pieces. These include some large red swivel chairs, and some strange four way seats beside the bar.

There are also some red high backed and high sided chairs, with a swing out white shelf.

The real draw is the rooftop deck, which is a spectacular place to have a drink, and watch the world go by. It is open at night too, even when the weather is pretty cold. Snow is the only thing that closes it.

Food

The array of food at JFK is pretty standard for Delta SkyClubs in the evening.

Hot food is on the main refectory counter, with a basic meat and pasta dish in the evening.

There are typically two soups on offer in the evening, as well as a curry. All in all it manages to be a notch above what you'd find at most Skyclubs.

Fresh fruit, vegetables, snacks, dips, biscuits, and crisps complete the mix. It isn't great, but on the tables are menus with main courses and burgers you can order for a fee.

Bar

The bar of course dominates the main room, with a long white marble bar - and all of 8 seats at the bar. If you want to sit here, you may have to fight for a seat.

Basic beers are free, but you pay for anything else on the top shelf, which includes some of the more expensive beer, such as Stella or Blue Moon. Only the lager and the IPA are free.

Similarly only basic house spirits are free - so it's worth looking out for the small display at the bar which tells you which cocktail is on special this week, and hence, complimentary.

Similarly the most basic of wine is complimentary, but you can redeem miles for premium drinks at an attractive rate, including for the Moet and Krug.

Business Facilities

There is an L shaped bench in one corner of the lounge where you can sit with a laptop, but that's about it.

Free, fast wifi.

There is a small TV room was just beyond, which keeps TV noise out of the main part of the lounge.

Bathrooms

There is a long corridor with showers.

Each shower has individually wrapped shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Plus towels which are left in the showers.

Access

Note that there is another Delta Skyclub in JFK Terminal 2. You can get to it airside by taking the JITney bus from Terminal 4 B18 which goes to C60. The T2 Delta Skyclub is much smaller.

Also, if you are flying on Deltaone from Terminal 4, you will have access to the amazing new New York JFK Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, which is well worth while checking out for the better food and top notch cocktail bar.
