American Airlines Admirals Club D30 Miami Lounge

The American Airlines Admirals Club D30 Miami Lounge has recently been renovated, following the opening of the Miami International Airport Flagship Lounge next door.

That has been coupled with a relaxation of access policies for the Flagship Lounge, so virtually any passenger with oneworld status (except on AA) can gain access. It is vastly better.

However the Miami American Airlines Admirals Club is no slouch, with a decent bar, lots of comfortable day beds, and some basic snacks. It can best be described as 'OK'.

Miami American Airlines Admirals Club lounge review

The American Airlines Admirals Club D30 Miami Lounge is probably in the most convenient location of the vast terminal to find, right in the middle of the terminal by gate D30. Head into the large white lobby, three reception desks check your credentials (there is often a line up) and send you upstairs, where desks check your boarding card again.

Once you are inside there is a small triangular touch down area, if you are only going to be there for a short time. Everyone walks past this area, but it is also the area with the most space. It is also the one that looks the most attractive, and almost has a showpiece style look to it.

Further on down, there are plenty of seats along the hall, mainly of the standard American Airlines leather armchair pattern. At least they all have power sockets (US 120v, and USB) right next to them.

To the left, around a large circular area, there are 10 leather day beds. Alas, it's impossible to snooze here as the lights are so bright, but it's OK for a lie down. Alas, staff also don't seem to come around all that regularly, and there are piles of rubbish by most of the daybeds.

Further around is a small Business Centre, again around and overlooking the curve, with work pods on a kind of shelf.

Back in the main part of the lounge, you pass the children and family room, with is also often empty.

Food

The Miami American Airlines Admirals Club is better equipped than most AA lounges, with some OK snacks, and even a small salad bar. However, it's not up to international standard in terms of complimentary dining.

Inevitably, being a US based airline, there is a huge supply of cheese cubes, along with carrot sticks, tomatoes and chilled salads.

The Miami lounge also offers the rare delight of avocado toast, available free of charge in the mornings.

There are a couple of hot soups available, which change every day, along with the obligatory tower of sadness, dispensing trail mix and sweets.

Bar

The Miami D-30 Admirals Club offers a selection of complimentary house beers, with Bud Light, Budweiser and Miller Lite are available for free.

Alas most of the decent beers, along with spirits and wines, come with a charge, though, although very basic house wines are free.

Business Facilities

There is a great 'shelf' around the semi-circular open lounge, which is good for working.

There's speedy Wi-Fi throughout, and it is really fast: far better than you might get at home, but occasionally around the bar area the wifi seems to flicker out.

The lounge is well connected on the electricity front, with amble power sockets (US style, 120v, and some USB ports) and wireless-charging pads.

Bathrooms

Decent bathrooms in the lounge, and four private showers.

Access

The lounge is right next door to the Miami International Airport (MIA) Flagship Lounge at gate D30, and you'd be far better off in there if you have access. Certainly this lounge is far better than the Admirals Club for international oneworld flights in Concourse E.

Note that Miami Airport has three Admirals Clubs, including one in Concourse E, and another one in Concourse D near gate D15 as well as this one.

There is access to Admirals Club members, AAdvantage Platinum on long-haul itineraries, Non-AA Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald status, and long-haul business or first-class oneworld or American Airlines tickets.

Day passes are available for $59.
