Swiss Business Class New York JFK Lounge
The Swiss lounge JFK offers a calming and relaxing atmosphere while also giving some great views out towards the distant runway.
There are dark chocolate brown leather lounge chairs, hand-made carpeting, and dark smoked-coloured oak floors, which gives a rather minimalist vibe.
There are also several walls completed from top to bottom in Jura stone, contributing to the sleek modern ambience.
Lighting is kept low beside lounge chairs to evoke the feeling of being at home and in privacy.
New York JFK Swiss Business Class lounge review
The Swiss lounge JFK offers a calming and relaxing atmosphere, based on a rather sombre colour scheme of brown leather lounge chairs, brown smoke coloured oak floors, and brown walls completed from top to bottom in Jura stone.
However there is a good bar, the ambience of a natural and relaxing environment, OK but not spectacular food, and a great view.
However, The New York airport Swiss lounge JFK is a welcome respite from the dullness of Kennedy airport.
Basically one large, long, rather dull room, it immediately seems similar to the lounge at the Zurich and Geneva hubs. Designed by Steve Rinaldi of AVIREAL, an architect firm based in Zurich, and filled with Vitra designer seats, each of which has a small side table, lamp, and power socket (US style plugs).
All the way along the lounge there are floor to ceiling windows, and along this there is a counter style seating which overlooks the amazing view.
At one end of the lounge there is a 'snoozing' area with six Z frame seats, which alas is often used for passengers eating, as there is only a small dining area.
Lighting is kept low beside lounge chairs to evoke the feeling of being at home and in privacy.
The dining area high tables would be ideal for working, but have no power sockets nearby.
Food
The food selection tends towards small snack type food, with just basic cold cuts, cheeses and nibbles.
About an hour before departure of the main flights to Geneva and Zurich the buffet selection is ramped up with some hot appetizers and entrees, but these are pretty basic too. Alas, there isn't much pre-flight dining here.
Bar
If you thing the food is basic in the Swiss lounge, wait till you get to the bar. It's very minimalist. There are two bottles of white, and one of red, and one sparkling wine on the counter top. And that's it.
There are 8 basic bottles of spirits.
Beer is in bottles, with just Conona or Coors. And that's it.
Business Facilities
Three rather slow HP PCs.Free wifi - password on the counter top.
Newspaper rack.
