Cathay Pacific Business Class Kuala Lumpur Lounge
Of all the oneworld lounges at Kuala Lumpur, the Cathay Pacific Kuala Lumpur Lounge is definitely the best for cleanliness, quiet, comfortable seats, and business facilities.It falls down a little in terms of the food, and certainly the bar, but other than that it is the lounge of choice - which is why it tends to be full of refugees from Malaysia Airlines who prefer the Cathay style of lounges.

The Cathay Pacific Kuala Lumpur Lounge is up on the Mezzanine: once off the train to the Satellite, take the hidden escalator on the right, up to the balcony, and right a short way until you see the marble wall to the lounge, in classic Cathay Pacific style: indeed, the lounge takes most of its styling cues from the Hong Kong lounges, including the impressive entrance desk. The Cathay Pacific Kuala Lumpur Lounge is small, and it is also a combined First and Business lounge - which in this case doesn't count for much.
It's definitely business, with only a slight hint towards First in terms of the noodles. The lounge is small and thin, curved around the corner of the Satellite building, and with a great view of the apron and gates below the lounge. As you enter you see the white marble worktop and stool seating overlooking the food area. Further around there are doors to the bathrooms, and then there is a good quiet space on the left, with three banks of classic Cathay armchairs. Incidentally, nowhere in the lounge is there a Solus chair in sight - there simply isn't room. Left from the main entrance is the newspaper rack, a large waiting area with TVs on the inside of the Cathay Pacific Kuala Lumpur Lounge, the business centre straight ahead, and then on the right three area with low walls which divide the space into areas with four chairs - just right for a family group. In general, the lounge exudes an aura of quiet hush and refinement, with the only noisy area close to where the TVs are. At busy times the lounge can get almost crowded, particularly in mid-afternoon when there are two flights to Hong Kong leaving within an hour of each other, but after about half past five, you can be the only passenger in the Cathay Pacific Kuala Lumpur Lounge.
Food
Food is pretty good in the Cathay Pacific Kuala Lumpur Lounge, but there isn't a lot of quantity: after all most passengers are just on the three hour flight to Hong Kong. On the right of the food counter there is a large heated silver cabinet with rice, curry and chicken. Next to this is a heated soup bowl, and a cabinet with hot pies. Further along is the salad area, with four bowls of carrot, sweetcorn, tomatoes, and green salad, and two dressings. There are some mini sandwiches here too. Noodles are alas plain pot noodles - there is no made to order noodle bar here - and there is also a small tray of deserts, and a tray of different types of cheese. There is also a small fruit bowl.
Bar
The bar in the Cathay Pacific Kuala Lumpur Lounge is the only real disappointment. There isn't one. Instead there is one solitary bottle of white in the fridge. There is red below the spirits. There are also cans of Heineken. There are four spirits on optics screwed to the wall - Beefeater Gin, Black Label whisky, Smirnoff vodka, and Bacardi. And that's it. The Malaysian airline sports bar is better, but it's actually the Plaza Premium Lounge which wins by a mile here.
Business Facilities
Business facilities are excellent in the Cathay Pacific Kuala Lumpur Lounge, with eight fast new iMac computers, which also run windows. Each of the computers is in a glass partitioned workspace, which also has a phone. There is a printer at the end of the room. Passengers rarely seem to use these computers now, so getting hold of one isn't a problem. There is also good fast wifi in the lounge, but you need the code which is given to you by reception on a little slip of paper. Newspapers are excellent in the CX KLIA lounge, with a full range of most of Asia's daily papers, plus a very good selection of magazines - everything from Cosmo to House and Garden. For this reason alone it's worthwhile heading past the lounge.
