Library Lounge Nice Airport

If ever there was a standard generic airport lounge, that also tries to be a bit different, it is the Library Lounge at Nice Airport.

A standard pay in lounge, it has two separate areas, a small dining area, and the marker of difference, a large part of the lounge marked out as a library with some great books on the shelves.

It is the default lounge of choice for Star Alliance airlines within the Schengen Zone, so when the lufthansa, eurowings, and Swiss flights all leave at about the same time, it can be a busy lounge indeed. At other times, it is remarkably quiet.

Nice Airport Library lounge review

The Library Lounge at Nice Airport is quite easy to find. It's in Nice Airport Terminal 1, in the Schengen zone. As soon as you clear security, turn left past duty free, and the lifts and stairs are clearly signed, just before the bar.

Walk up the stairs, and the reception is at the top. The lounge is used to most Star Alliance cards, although quirks like United Gold cards with Eurowings can throw the reception a little, and you may need to print out a page with your entitlement.

Once inside, there are two main areas. To the right is the main dining area, with a small buffet up against the wall, and the bar area in a small nook, oddly right next to the bowls of sweets. There is a dining table in this area, and a rack of four sofas against the wall, plus some quieter seating at the back.

On the left hand side, there is also a middle bench right in the middle of the lounge, but with ridiculous wobbly yellow tin stools. This is not a good place to sit. Against the wall are some very high backed sofas, creating kind of enclosed booths.

Finally, at the far end, is the piece de resistance, the library! It looks great, and has many books you can read - but not take out of the lounge. In this area are some low benches that seem a bit odd, but work in context.

Alas, this area is often commandeered by parents who let their toddlers run wild, and it is far from a relaxing space at these times.

One of the downsides of the Library Lounge at Nice Airport is that although there are windows, they just look out on the main concourse, and are hidden behind large curtains. You can, at the far end, just about peer around them to see tailfins of some of the planes, but it's a struggle and not really worth it.

This lounge is also in the Schengen area. You can visit the lounge on a non-Schengen flight, such as British Airways, but there is a better non-Schengen lounge after passport control, the Canopy Lounge.
