British Airways has opened its doors to a revamped new Business class lounge. At it's centre is a new granite topped Quaich Bar, created in partnership with the Quaich bar at the Craigellachie Hotel in Speyside, Scotland. Staffed with a bartender (peak evening hours only) it serves cocktails, including the signature drink within at the lounge, the Broadway Copper Cup made with Copper Dog whisky, orange bitters and berries.
At the back of the lounge is a reopened Elemis Spa with treatments to help travellers relax and recharge ahead of their journey.
Spread across 22,000 sq. ft. (spanning over half acre), there are plenty of seats. BA has replaced the ageing orange furniture and replaced it with blue and grey armchairs. Many seat now have power sockets (USB and 120 volt) close by; alas the lounge is still in the same location, and lacks a significant view.
Food
There is also a fresh new dining area, with full pre-flight dining experience with a brasserie-style dining room where travellers can enjoy freshly prepared dishes from an extensive menu or a range of smaller items chosen to allow customers to 'grab and go'.
Alas pre flight dining is for Business Class passengers only, and not those entering with a silver or gold Frequent Flyer card. The dining room has been created in partnership with White Company, who also make the bedding used on board British Airways flights.
Bar
The BrewDog craft beer room is a delight, and it has been opened in partnership with pub chain which has expanded from one initial bar in Aberdeen. It has four different brews on tap. There is a small business centre in the new British Airways Club World JFK Lounge, with several PCs, free wifi and newspapers. There is also an entertainment room with state-of-the-art entertainment and sound from Sony.Bathrooms
