Singapore British Airways First lounge review
The centrepiece of the new Singapore Lounge for British Airways is the Concorde Bar, with Nero marble surfaces and European oak flooring.
The First Class British Airways Singapore Lounge is similar to the Concorde Room concept and revamps it into a smaller area more suitable for large satellite lounges beyond BA's home hub.
This exclusive section of the lounge was designed by London-based creative agency Honour, and has blackened oak walls, 'mood' lighting, European oak flooring and a Nero marble counter top, giving it a 'private member's club' atmosphere.
The Concorde Bar is designed just for First Class passengers - top-tier Executive Club frequent flyers don't have access, just like the exclusive Concorde Room lounge at London Heathrow.
The cosy havens of the First Bar features, as you might expect, a fully staffed bar, done up in black marble where, if you really want to you can sit at the bar. There are also smaller more enclosed spaces around the walls with a sofa for couples and seven private booths with 4+4 seating.
In total there are 41 seats around what was the far end of the old lounge, and there are also three semi-private 'lounge' areas with a leather two-seater sofa and chair, plus a large flat screen TV are by far the best areas.
Seating options include high wingback chairs with individual reading lights and two-seater booths along the wall for dining.
You can also take a seat at the eight high chairs at the central bar area, with four on each side
A novel feature of the Concorde Bar are the "electronic walls" that display a digital panoramic view of Singapore that changes according to the time of day, which kind of makes up for there being no windows in the BA First Bar. To give the impression of some natural light there is an artificial skylight over the bar area, however many comment British Airways' 'The Bar Singapore' is a bit dark and claustrophobic.
Food
BA's exclusive sanctuary for First Class passengers sadly offers pretty much the same food menu as in the wider lounge 'outside'. However, it is available a la carte, from a menu, and boasts a few extra items, such as beef ribeye, a laksa, and fish of the day.
True, that is also available outside, but the difference here is that you can order from a printed menu, and it is brought in to you.
There ae however upgraded snacks, having Kettle Brand Potato Chips instead of Lay's in the main lounge.
Bar
All drinks are either Self serve, or ask the bar staff and they will pour it for you.
In one nook in the inside wall there are 'enhanced' beverage options, with premium spirits that are of marginally better quality than in the main lounge section.
The whiskey selection gains a Glenlivet 18 years, while in the nook the gin is upgraded to decent Hampshire Bombay Sapphire, which isn't exactly top end, but it is better then the gin in the main lounge area which is Gordon's or Tanqueray. Equally Vodka is Belvedere and Grey Goose, compared to the outside Smirnoff or Absolut.
There is Champagne, typically Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale Brut which is a middle to top end drop, and not widely available in Singapore.
Business Facilities
There is as you would expect decent wifi.
There are also power sockets with USB charging next to every seat in 'The Bar'.
A change from the outside Business lounge is there is also a good selection of reading materials available.
Bathrooms
Outside loungeAccess
You must be departing on a British Airways flight in First Class, with a non-codeshare First Class ticket on British Airways only, although those on redemption or 'points upgrade' tickets are let in through the door.
Access is through a door in the black marble wall - eligible passengers are given an access code.
Formerly known as 'The Concorde Bar Singapore', this space was rebranded 'The Bar Singapore' in mid-2019. This came about due to the confusion of many Concorde Room cardholders, who assumed they would be allowed to access this area even when not flying BA First Class.
