Delta Skyclub Los Angeles Lounge T2

The Delta Skyclub lounge in Los Angeles is very much a short term temporary 'pop up' lounge, but actually isn't that bad. It is certainly vastly better than either of the interim Delta lounges in Terminal 3.

It used to be the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge. It is a large L-shaped space with abundant daylight, views on the tarmac, and a prime location on the mezzanine floor. There are a few shower suites, although they're not as posh as the airline's current facilities.

There is a generous buffet with the airlines traditional food and beverage selection, and a small self serve bar.

Alas, it's quite sad to see, after the tremendous renovated Sky Club in Terminal 5, which only lasted nine months before being handed over to American Airlines.

NEWS: Delta is revamping both of its terminals, and all three lounges, as part of the plans for the LAX T2/T3 “Sky Way” at LAX, to be complete by 2024. In the meantime, Delta are using the old Air Canada lounge in T2 as one of the LAX short term stop gap Delta Sky Club.

Los Angeles Delta Skyclub lounge Terminal 2 review

The Los Angeles Delta Skyclub lounge Terminal 2 looks like no other Sky Club. That's because it isn't. It was built as the Air Canada lounge, and still has most of it's features, but with a few bits of standard Delta furniture and the snackery plonked in the middle. It is due to be revamped soon for the new Delta terminal at LAX.

Never the less, compared to the two Los Angeles Delta Skyclub Terminal 3 which are woeful, it is a welcome addition to the lounge scene at Los Angeles. The newly created popup Sky Club has an OK bar, food area, shower suites, a quiet room where mobile (cell) phones are banned, and a separate business centre.

The main issue with the Delta Skyclub lounge in Los Angeles is finding the lounge. In the middle of Terminal 2 head up in the lift (or stairs) up to the Virgin Atlantic lounge, and look for the small stand saying Sky Club, turn right, over the bridge to the balcony, and there it is.

At least the entrance has the latest signature Delta design elements, even though Delta didn't exactly go to town on it.

The Los Angeles Delta Skyclub lounge Terminal 2 is light bright and open, albeit manically busy in the mornings.

At one end there is a large window which gives a great view of the airport apron.

The Los Angeles Delta Skyclub has banks and banks of seating, in a classic Air Canada style - for that is what they are. The brown leather armchairs go on for miles on the left hand side of the lounge.

Beyond here is a seating nook which is also the mobile phone free area.

The main part of the lounge is split into two, with the food and bar on one side, and the dining & sitting area on the other. The food counter directly opposite the bar looks amazing, and it has a bright white quartz surface which catches the eye, as do the flower arrangements.

Food

In the Delta Skyclub Los Angeles Lounge T2 there is Continental breakfast in the morning, followed by soups, salads, bar treats and biscuits throughout the day. The Salad is quite good.

There are real salt and pepper grinders, or a selection of pre-peeled hard boiled eggs on a gleaming white egg tray.

At the end of the counter is a Starbucks style setup at the end with two types of espresso machines and a regular Starbucks machine plus some syrups and dairy additives.

Bar

This Sky Club features what Delta like to call the "open bar" concept . That means the bar a few bottles of wine on a shelf, and you pour them yourself.

There is another smaller bar at the other end of the lounge.

Amazingly, and somewhat surprisingly, in the evenings and Friday lunchtimes bar staff will sometimes wander around the lounge offering cocktails from a tray.

Bathrooms

Clean, convenient and well-appointed shower suites are available. Just ask the staff on the desk, and they will direct you. They have towels as well as amenities such as toothbrushes, combs and deodorants.

Access

The Delta Los Angeles SkyClub is one of the few Delta lounges which understand the rules of Virgin Velocity Gold and Platinum, and will grant access without a fight.

Other than that, its the usual access rules of Delta Sky Club members at any time, Delta Sky Club one-day pass holders, DeltaOne, BusinessElite, or full-fare economy passengers departing on a same-day transcontinental flight, Delta BusinessElite passengers departing on a same-day international flight, International First and Business Class passengers departing on or connecting to/from a same-day international flight operated by a SkyTeam member, and SkyTeam Elite Plus members departing on or connecting to/from a same-day international flight operated by a SkyTeam member.
