American Airlines Admirals Club D15 Miami Lounge

The American Airlines Admirals Club at Miami airport by gate D15 has just been renovated in the latest AA design and has a fresh new look, with power outlets at every seat.

If you are stuck down in the 'lower gates' section of Miami Airport, it is certainly the best of the bunch for lounges, with the large bar dominating proceedings at one end of the lounge, and the curve with seats overlooking the terminal dominating the other.

Compared to how busy the D30 lounge is, the Admirals Club at D15 also seems a lot quieter.

Miami American Airlines Admirals Club D15 lounge review

The American Airlines Admirals Club D15 Miami Lounge is all about the curves, and the bar.

The bar itself is often a hive of activity late in the evening, and always seems more social than the gate 30 bar.

You approach the American Airlines Admirals Club D15 Miami Lounge by going up the stairs near the American Express centurion lounge and the Skytrain station, and then heading along the balcony: You can see the entrance from a long way off, and it is plain white, making it clear that this lounge only has an Admirals Club, not a Flagship Lounge.

After the entrance on the left is a service desk, and straight ahead a business centre. To the left of this are a couple of square dull rooms which overlook the main part of the terminal, and not a lot else. Few people sit here.

Instead and much more interesting, on the right are several sections of seats with great views of the airport, and this area seems much mroe comfortable.

Across a cross-ways linking corridor (with more seats) is the curve around the terminal rotunda, with high bar stools overlooking the normal passengers below. Inland from here are a couple of American Airlines odd four way 'cross' private seats with high backs, and power sockets in the armrests. Then there is a family room.

Finally, at the end of the lounge is a very large room, with a vast bar on one side, and dining plus snacks on the other, and dining tables in between. The two large white benches are often full with passengers who are on a laptop, but also want good access to beer in the evenings. Power sockets for these benches are below the worktop.

Food

The Miami American Airlines Admirals Club at gate D15 has some OK snacks, and even a small salad bar. However, it's not up to international standard in terms of complimentary dining, and breakfast is pretty basic with just some cerial, plus lots and lots of cheese cubes, along with carrot sticks, tomatoes and chilled salads.

There are a couple of hot soups available, which change every day, along with the obligatory tower of sadness, dispensing trail mix and sweets.

Bar

The Miami D-15 Admirals Club bar is large, and good with three TVs above the bar showing, of course, sports. The nine seats at the bar are often hard to come by.

It offers a selection of complimentary house beers, with Bud Light, Budweiser and Miller Lite are available for free.

Alas most of the decent beers, along with spirits and wines, come with a charge, though, although very basic house wines are free.

Business Facilities

There is a very good business centre in the lounge, with several fast and new PCs and a wireless printer.

There's speedy Wi-Fi throughout, and it is really fast: far better than you might get at home.

The lounge is well connected on the electricity front, with amble power sockets (US style, 120v, and some USB ports) and wireless-charging pads.

Bathrooms

Decent bathrooms in the lounge.

Access

Note that Miami Airport has another Admirals Club, with and another one in Concourse D near gate D30 as well as this one at gate D15.

However, the Admirals Club for international oneworld flights in Concourse E has now permanently closed.

There is access to Admirals Club members, AAdvantage Platinum on long-haul itineraries, Non-AA Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald status, and long-haul business or first-class oneworld or American Airlines tickets.

Day passes are available for $59.

If you are a oneworld elite, you may be far better going to the AA Miami International Airport (MIA) Flagship Lounge at gate D30.
