Lufthansa Hamburg Senator Lounge

NEWS: The Senator and Business lounges at Hamburg Airport have now opened, giving it a larger space to the Business Class lounge.

Thankfully the Lufthansa Hamburg Senator Lounge has had a revamp, and it's a good one, with new chairs, lights, carpets, and strange finger room dividers which just look a little last millennium.

Alas it seems an opportunity was missed when the designers came in, and it just got a revamp like most of the rest of the chain of Lufthansa lounges. It's OK, but really not the best. The space feels bright, airy and welcoming, if not specially cutting edge.

There are quite a few squishy armchairs, all of the standard Lufthansa design, small little coffee tables, acres of carpet, and that's about it.

The lounge has comfortable armchairs in banks of six, with a side table, lamp and powers sockets (EE round style) at every seat. AT the back of the lounge is a small #dining area with café style seating, and a small smoking room.

At one end of the lounge there is a small quiet area, with two semi enclosed zones which overlook the inside of the terminal. At the other end of the lounge there is an area with workbenches, and a photocopier.

The lack of any kind of style is counterbalanced by the usual Lufthansa room dividers, with occasional objet d art, and a long window wall which lets plenty of natural light in and offers decent views on the tarmac.

However, a unique feature of the Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Hamburg airport is the large outdoor observation deck. On a summers day it is an amazing place to be. There is just one hidden entrance door, in the middle of the lounge. The deck is open all year, whatever the weather, but is best on a bright summers day. There is just basic furniture out here.

Food

The new Hamburg Lufthansa Senator lounge has typical Lufthansa catering, with a small salad bar and a couple of hot dishes.

The food will never win any awards, but it's decent enough for the short haul. There is a salad bar which is almost hidden away around the corner, next to the hot food area.

This typically has two hot dishes of the day, plus rice or pasta.

Bar

There is a wide selection of soft and alcoholic drinks including sparkling wine.

There is a beer tap with two types of beer on draft.

The fridge has bottled beer, and white wine and sparkling.

Three types of red wine are on the counter top.

Don't miss the very god range of spirits, including three types of Bombay Sapphire.

Business Facilities

Free wifi.

Small business centre with work cubicles.

Printer and photocopier.

There is a decent magazine rack, with newspapers and magazines

Bathrooms

In the lounge, although they seemed to miss out on the revamp when the rest of the lounge was updated.

The lounge does not have showers.
