Bristol airport

Bristol Airport is a small regional airport at Lulsgate Bottom in North Somerset. Only 8 miles from the city of Bristol, it can feel a lot further than that when you are on the little local bus heading out into the countryside from Bristol.

Larger than you might expect, it is the ninth busiest airport in the United Kingdom, handling nearly 9 million passengers. It is a major base for EasyJet and Ryanair. KLM still have three flights a day, and BA occasionally use the airport on a weekly basis in summer. However, all the transatlantic flights have now been axed.

A minor curiosity is that the airport is wholly owned by Canada's Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, which bought it from Australia's Macquarie Bank.

Bristol Airport shuttle bus services

Bristol Airport may only be 13 miles from the city centre- but it feels a lot further than that when you are on the Bristol Airport Flyer bus service links. This is a little local bus that goes from the city centre bus terminal to the airport via Bristol Temple Meads railway station and stops at all the domestic stops along the way.

The bus run by First West of England, is route A1. It takes about half an hour, and costs £13.00 Return, £8.00 Single, running every 20 minutes. Just buy your ticket, with cash, on board.

Don't confuse it with the A4 'Air Decker' operated by Bath Bus Company which goes to Bath.

If you are heading to Bristol Airport from the City Centre, the 'South West Falcon' run by Stagecoach South West just makes one stop, and is much faster, as it runs all the way for Exeter.

Ir costs £7.70, takes only 23 minutes, but only runs once and hour. In Bristol it leaves from Cabot Circus.

Bristol Airport taxi services

Getting a taxi to and from Bristol Airport is usually trouble free.

Neither gives quick access to the airport, a fact which was recognised by the Greater Bristol Strategic Transport Study

Cabin Bar

The Cabin Bar is much classier than the Brunel bar, and is situated in a quieter part of the airport, some distance from the Brunel, up what seems to be a corridor.
