Air Canada Transborder Vancouver Lounge

The Trans-border Maple Leaf Lounge at Vancouver International Airport is one of those rather odd small boxes of a lounge, designed due to a quirk of the immigration requirements.

Designed just for those occasional Vancouver to USA flights, it is located in the Trans-border Terminal, after security, and then in Pier E look for a small glass door Between Gates 84 and 86.

Notorious as one of the barest Maple Leaf Clubs in existence, it really just has a rack of chairs in a room, but quite nice ones with large leather armchairs in racks of two plus two. This is great for groups, but with most passengers travelling alone, it can be quite annoying.

At one end there is cafe style seating by the buffet area by the coffee machine at the end, overlooking the inside of the terminal.

At the other end of the room there is a good view outside.

Incidentally, a quirk of this lounge is that technically, you have entered US immigration control when you are deemed to have entered the trans-border area, and as such, US rules apply here.

Food

There are limited breakfast choices, and it goes downhill from there, with toast and jam, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, or oatmeal. And that's it.

There is no hot food until 11am.

Bags of crisps (chips) available all day.

Bar

Once the bar is open at 11am, there are free beer wine and spirits.

There are 12 bottles of spirits on a rack.

Decent salad bar.

Business Facilities

Outside there are work cubicals, with tall partitions between the workstations, which are really private and good.

There are workstations (PCs), with internet access, and a printer and scanner.

Don't miss the mobile phone charging station.

Oddly, for a small lounge with limited flights, there is a large business centre with a circular conference room.

There are very few point outlets in the room, and none at most of the chairs.

Bathrooms

Bathrooms are near the reception, along with storage for small bags.

There are no shower facilities in the lounge.
