Marhaba Melbourne Lounge
The Marhaba Melbourne Lounge is a quite large, spacious lounge. For a pay-in lounge it is pretty good, and indeed the stand out feature is the great views of the airport apron and runway. There is a decent barista service and the dining is very good.
Alas, the decor is a little sterile and displays just a plain 'generic airport lounge' type of style.
Melbourne Marhaba lounge review
The Melbourne Marhaba lounge is upstairs from the main terminal, and indeed if it seems familiar, that's because it is. It sits where the Emirates Lounge was, until that lounge moved around the corner into the new extension by the Etihad lounge.
It's quite a big lounge, and Marhaba recon the lounge can seat up to 200 passengers. Alas, much of the seating is of standard Marhaba furniture, and that means very bland armchairs. They are quiet comfortable, but stylish, they are not.
Once past reception, there are two main seating areas. On the right is a long corridor with lots and lots of armchairs. Continue left, and there is another seating area, then the bathrooms, plus a large empty room; the former Business Centre, before you complete a full circle of the lounge.
However, most people go straight into the lounge, where there is the dining area and barista station.
Marhaba Lounge Melbourne seating areas by the windows are quite comfortable, and there are power socks plus USB charging ports by each seat.
At the far end of the lounge are two electric massage chairs, which are rarely used.
Food
The Marhaba Lounge in Melbourne has excellent food, and it is well worth while going here for a feed alone. There is a large refectory counter, with four large tureen, sub divided into eight dishes. Typically there are two hot meat dishes, with a curry and a chicken or beef stew. Next to this are the usual options of rice, potatoes, veggies and pasta.
A soup of the day is also on the counter, plus a salad bowl.
However, many come here for the a la carte noodle station alone. This is staffed, and offers wonton, beef and udon noodles.
Dessert included Weiss mango ice cream, raspberry cheese cake and normal cheese cakes, plus an exceptionally good cheese board.
Bar
The bar in the Melbourne Marhaba lounge is decidedly self-serve. Next to the food area there is a drinks area with three bottle of white wine in a bowl, and two bottles of red. There are five spirits on the counter with Absolut vodka, Bundaberg rum, Bacardi, Jonnie Walker black label, Tanqueray gin, and Baileys.
In the fridge below are no less than six different beers, including a cider.
