No1 Lounge North London Gatwick
The London Gatwick No1 North lounge is one of the better pay in Lounges at London Gatwick.
There is a TV lounge, a bar, library area (no kids under 12 year old) and a range of seating options. Hot and cold food also included (one hot dish per person). There is also a meeting room which can be booked in advance.
London Gatwick No1 North lounge review
The No1 Lounge North London Gatwick is either a pleasant haven away from the masses in the main terminal, or even busier than it is outside, and you'll end up camped on the floor.
The lounge is hidden away down the little lounge corridor at the far end of the terminal, past the Brewdog. It is on level 3 which is the same level you walk into the lounges from at Concourse Level, just past the Easyjet lounge, which makes things simpler. There is often a queue for entry, and at busy times you'll need to have booked in advance, or spend an hour waiting before you are allowed in. There are even a couple of sofas at reception for those awaiting entry.
The lounge itself is quite a large one, with several different rooms which are well worth exploring, particularly if you are hunting for a seat.
You approach the lounge proper along a long corridor lined with propellers, which heightens the anticipation of getting to the bar, which is the first thing you spot as you enter. It is a large circular bar, with seats at it, and very popular it is too. From mid afternoon there is a regular queue of passengers who stop of here, before even finding a seat, for the first Gatters pint of the day.
Then, ahead of you is the main seating area, past the odd mid room magazine rack which really seems to get in the way of the seats. This L shaped room has great views over the runway and Sussex beyond. There is also an inner room area, with giant TVs showing the sport.
The to your left is a dining area opposite the buffet, with a water station close to it. These seats by the buffet are in high demand, and you may have to wait for some time.
However, woe betide you if you ignore the signs on the larger tables saying they are for groups of 6 or more - the staff may be lackadaisical about clearing plates, but hot on shooing solo passengers away from the larger seats. Further beyond the buffet to the left is a large dining room, but this is only open at certain times of day, and it is also easy to miss.
The bar is also surrounded by leather chairs and bench seating with small tables, and these areas are the ones for the solo drinkers, of which the lounge has many.
Beyond the bar, down some steps, there is a buffet food area. Beyond that, to the left is a restaurant area (quite large). To the right is the main sitting area and good views since the lounge is situated at the corner of the building and you can watch the aircraft taxi out to the runway.
However, it is the smaller inner library area that is the most popular, and also the quietest. There are three rooms here, through a small doorway which is easy to miss by the bar. The library has one large central room, with huge leather sofas and a reading table at the far end. To the right is the reading room, with a long bench. while to the left is another smaller seating area, and finally in the corner is a conference room.
Food
The food in the No1 Lounge has gone a little downhill over the past few years.
There is a buffet area at the far end of the lounge, with just half a dozen small tables next to it: this area can get seriously crowded in the mornings.
For breakfast there is a help yourself selection with all the trappings of a full cooked English, including bacon and sausages, beans, tomato, and fried bread.
More healthy options include Greek yoghurt with toppings and Fruit salad, while there are some cereals, croissants & pain au chocolat.
During the day lunch appears from around 11am, with several dishes of chicken, pasta and rice.
There is also what is called the Bistro, with dishes made to order, open later in the day, offering delights such as a Ploughman's lunch.
Bar
The large horseshoe bar is the highlight of this lounge. There is complimentary sparkling wine, and so popular it is, glasses of the Prosecco are just left on the counter top.
White wines include a Pinot Grigio and a Sauvignon, while there are also a couple of fairly pedestrian reds.
There are now only two draft beers - Amstel and a cider Oddly, London Pride is only available in bottles.
Champagne is available by the glass for £6 with a bottle of Castlenau Brut Reserve for £30 and a bottle of Veuve Cliquot or Moet et Chandon for £70.
However if you are flying on Qatar or Singapore Airlines, you get a voucher for Champagne, and it can be reused as many times as you like.
Business Facilities
There is free, unlimited wifi.
There are no computers, however there is a 'laptop shelf' in the library.
Power sockets are everywhere, almost all UK square pin design, but there are a couple of EU sockets in the Library and in the conference room.
Bathrooms

£34 for three hours when booked online (£16 for children). If you need to stay longer you have to pay by the hour.
